This policy explains what personal data The Tech Stack collects, why, and what you can do about it.
1. Who I am.
The Tech Stack is a trading name of Level Up X Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 16275885, VAT number 488 1993 26. Registered office: Union House, 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. This address is for official correspondence only, so please contact me by email.
Level Up X Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described here. ICO registration number: ZC011277.
Questions about your data: steph@thetechstack.co.uk
2. What I collect and why.
Website visitors: pages visited, device and browser type, rough location (country or city) and how you found the site. I use this to improve the site, and only with your consent through the cookie banner.
Enquiries: your name, email address, business website and anything you write in your message. I use this to reply to you, and to send a free spot check or page redesign if you ask for one. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
Clients: name, business name, email, billing details, questionnaire answers, and the content and logins you share for your project. I use this to deliver your project or plan, take payment and keep business records. Lawful basis: contract, and legal obligation for accounting records.
Businesses I contact first: business name, the contact name and business email published on your website, Google Business Profile or social media, and notes on our conversation. I use this to offer services relevant to your business. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (business-to-business marketing). I only email limited companies this way, and every email lets you opt out.
Newsletter or free resource sign-ups: name and email address, to send what you signed up for. Lawful basis: consent. Unsubscribe any time from any email.
I don’t collect health or medical information about you, and I don’t sell your data.
3. Who I share it with.
I use these services to run the business. They only process your data to provide their service to me.
Framer: hosts this website and receives form submissions (EU).
Google: email, documents, enquiry records and website statistics (UK, EU and US).
Stripe: takes payments (UK, EU and US).
Tally: client questionnaires and sign-up forms (EU).
MailerLite: client emails and newsletters (EU).
Make: connects these tools so things happen automatically (EU).
Notion: client portal and project tracking (US).
Vercel: hosts preview pages for free redesigns (US).
Where data goes outside the UK, it’s protected by UK-approved safeguards, such as the UK-US data bridge or the UK’s standard contract clauses. I’ll also share data if the law requires it.
4. How long I keep it.
Enquiries that don’t become a project: 12 months from the last message.
Client records: 6 years after the project or plan ends, because UK tax law requires it.
Businesses I contacted first: 12 months from the last contact. If you opt out, I keep just your email address on a do-not-contact list so I don’t contact you again.
Newsletter sign-ups: until you unsubscribe.
Website statistics in Google Analytics: 14 months.
Free redesign preview pages: taken down after about 30 days if there’s no reply.
5. Cookies.
This site only uses analytics cookies (Google Analytics) if you accept them in the cookie banner. They show how visitors use the site. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set.
_ga and _ga_PLG7WV78KV (Google Analytics): tell visits apart so the site can count them. They last up to 2 years.
The banner saves your choice on your device so it doesn’t ask again on every page. To change your choice, clear this site’s cookies in your browser and the banner will ask again.
6. Your rights.
You can ask me to:
give you a copy of your data
correct it
delete it
limit how I use it
stop using it, including for marketing
send it to you or another company in a common format
If you gave consent, you can take it back at any time. Email steph@thetechstack.co.uk and I’ll reply within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. I’d appreciate the chance to sort it out first.
7. Clients’ customers.
When I build a chatbot, form or email system for a client, the client decides how their customers’ data is used, and their own privacy policy covers it. I handle that data only on their instructions, under a written data processing agreement.
8. Keeping data safe.
Accounts are protected with strong passwords and two-step sign-in, access is limited to what each task needs, and I use well-known providers with their own security standards.
9. Changes.
If this policy changes, I’ll update it here and change the date at the top.
